IMP is a collective of people from diverse backgrounds who have links with other individuals, groups and agencies with whom they share interests and sometimes resources.  They are in contact with and work with Australian residents and migrants from a range of cultural backgrounds.

IMP describes itself as being 'formed in 2005 by a group of people from diverse cultural backgrounds, who live and/or work in the Ipswich and surrounding areas and are passionate about multiculturalism.'

Members of IMP feel that communities such as these are marginalized and fragmented with no common focus.  They also feel that there are too few opportunities or resources for members of these diverse cultural communities to come together and participate in arts and cultural practices and to develop opportunities and build audience for their creative production.
